Rainy Day Alternative

Rainy Day Alternative

Right from the first day we arrived, the weather forecast was for rain on Tuesday. It was not a question of if, but how much and when. Even as of late last night, the forecasts were all over the board. Some said rain at 8:00 AM others said not until noon. This discrepancy was quite the topic of conversation yesterday among our group. Should we ride super early or wait later in the afternoon? In the end, it made little difference. The rains came at 8:00AM. Carefully watching the radar, as if we were flying planes, the decision was made to attempt a ride at 11:00. Sure enough, the skies cleared so we started out. The scheduled ride was the Queen Stage of the week. (See note below). This ride had already been cancelled by our guides. It’s now scheduled for tomorrow. Instead, it was every man or women for themselves. Ie Do your own ride. Jonathan suggested we do the Sineu Loop Short Version ride which was perfect. Enough of a ride to spin the legs while also giving us a recovery day for tomorrow. The only small glitch, was that at about mile 16, the skies opened up and we got soaked.  We made our way to the village of Buger, found a cafĂ© and did the very European thing of having a coffee and pastry.

Tomorrow is our Queen Stage for the week - Sa Calobra 80 miles and 9,275 feet of climbing. Wish us well.
